report under cut )

Now, I'm a non-smoker but I think it's quite mad that smoking is being banned in public places. Sure, I hate the smell of smoke on my skin and in my hair after a night out BUT I expect it. It's part of going out.

Maybe I'm being small minded here (and probably opened a can of worms with this post) ... what do other people think??

Sunday almost over ......

Today has been good and actually feel as though I've DONE something too!!

My parents room is now spick and span ... they went on holiday this morning and I'm planning on sleeping in there when Jim is here, no way was I sleeping in there the state it was!!

Also got my room cleaned up and the bathroom done too. Now all that's left to do this week is downstairs. That's going to be interesting considering I'm working til 7pm through til Thursday and have had very little energy to do anything this past week. Prft ... I'm sure I'll find some from somewhere.

All the ironing is done and most of my washing is done too, which was the main thing I wanted to get done too.

Spoke to Sarah G and Jim earlier too ... good to have catch up's.

A couple of different views this week about the happenings in London ... been interesting to read too. Can see all points of view that I've read, and also respect peoples views. Hell, if we all thought the same the world would be VERY boring indeed.

Am really looking forward to Friday for so many reasons ... for those of you who've been struggling to keep up Jim is coming up (fingers crossed). It's gonna be soooo good to spend some time with him. Although it's only been about 2 months it feels so much longer then that.

Anyways, guess I'd better grab a shower before bed!

Innocent shot!

This link is to the story regarding the shooting in London on Thursday.

A Brazillian mistaken for an Asian?? Come on!! Another thing about it too ... the house was under surveillance because it was "suspected" to be linked to the bombings. I think I'd be pretty nervous coming out of the house, irrelevant of if I had anything to do with it or not ... that can be seen as suspicious behaviour in my eyes.

A good quote from the article is this:

And Sir Ian has admitted further people could be shot as detectives hunt down the would-be suicide bombers.

He said: "Somebody else could be shot. But everything is done to make it right. This is a terrifying set of circumstances for individuals to make decisions."

OK, so this guy was shot on purpose (lets not forget that point) for being a suspect. That's basically what it boils down to. No amount of apologies are going to bring him back.

As the quote says above .. it is a terryfying set of circumstances. I also find it unbelieveable just what this countries police get away with ... I can understand that they are simply following orders and doing their job but does it really have to be done this way?? Do they HAVE to shoot to kill suspects?? And yes guys ... I do know that if they are suicide bombers that many innocent people can be killed but I just feel that things can be carried out a little differently.

Excerts.....

Armed officers opened fire on the suspect after he hurdled a ticket barrier and raced along a platform at Stockwell station.

Police screamed at passengers to evacuate and are thought to have shot the suspect as he stumbled on to a train.

Police are believed to be under orders to shoot to kill if they believe someone is about to detonate a bomb.

I can understand if the police are under orders to kill someone they believe are about to detonate a bomb ... but this guy could easily have NOT been involved in any of the bombings in London! My god ... people jump barriers on the underground every day!!

Whatever happened to being "innocent til proven guilty"?? Now, what happened in London was wrong .... VERY wrong. And anyone linked to what went on a couple of weeks back and yesterday deserve to be punished ... killed ... whatever. I'm really hoping that innocent parties won't get injured or killed by the police believeing that a person is about to bomb the tube or wherever they are.

Maybe it's a naive approach on my part, and the one thing I try and do is to trust the insticts of the police - after all it's their job to look after the british public.

Will these people ever stop?? Luckily this time things weren't strong enough to cause deaths or chaos .. but it definately go's to show that things are far from over.

Yes folks .. your reading right .. the suspects of the London Bombings are from Leeds or the Leeds area.

Prft ... although Leeds isn't exactly next door, it's close enough.

I'm sure you all know about this 2 minute silence but just in case ....

At 12 o'clock noon this Thursday there's going to be a two minute silence to remember the victims of the bombs which exploded last week, during rush hour last Thursday morning. Buses will stop, businesses
will stop, everything still for two minutes. We are organising this on behalf of the Mayor's office.

It's a gesture of compassion and sympathy and remembrance, but also maybe a gesture of defiance - and so there's a thought that wherever we are, we should go out on to the streets, and observe the silence there, in public.

The whole of Britain, standing on our streets, which we will always own and defend, in silence.

Please pass this on to everyone you know.

The above community has been set up for any news on the London attack this morning (thanks to [info]insaniac for posting it on his journal).

Just looked on the MSN website, looks as though around 45 people have been reported dead with about 150 injured. One of the hospitals has said that many of those are unlikely to survive.

Things aren't good :(

***EDIT @ 1608***

Apparently the above is wrond and there's about 33 that have died, with no news about the bus explosion.

My thoughts definately isn't on work at the moment!

The above is what's happened in London this morning! In many ways it's only been a matter of time for something like this to happen.

OK, so there's 2 possibilities (as stated in the news report) .... terrorists for the hell of it or related to the news yesterday that we have the Olympics!

Have heard from Jim, he's ok! Was at home and not heading into London (thankfully).

Will have to wait til I get home and watch the news for an update!!
